History

Lamela joined River Plate at seven and came through the academy that also produced Javier Saviola and Gonzalo Higuaín. He broke into the first team in 2009 wearing 39, a high number given to a teenager not yet expected to start, and finished with 36 league appearances and 4 goals before Roma paid an initial €12 million for him in 2011. That was the same year River Plate were relegated for the first time in their 110-year history. He went on to play over 250 games for Tottenham and reach the 2019 Champions League final. This shirt is from the two seasons he spent in Buenos Aires as a teenager.
