History

AC Milan began 2004/05 by winning the Italian Super Cup 3-0 against Lazio, with a hat-trick from Andriy Shevchenko, who was named Ballon d'Or winner a few months later. Carlo Ancelotti's side had one of the great midfields of the era, with Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Kaká and Clarence Seedorf. Milan reached the Champions League final in Istanbul and led Liverpool 3-0 at half-time, before Liverpool scored three times in six minutes and won on penalties. It remains one of the most famous finals ever played. Seedorf is the only player to win the Champions League with three different clubs: Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan. He wore 20 in 2004/05 and took over the number 10 after Rui Costa left in 2006.
