History

Cerezo Osaka joined the J-League in 1995 and take their name from the Japanese word for cherry blossom, which gives the club its distinctive pink identity. The club has produced significant Japanese internationals including Shinji Kagawa and Hiroshi Kiyotake, both of whom went on to play in the Bundesliga.
